Clatteringshaws Loch view

Tuesday 6th March.
Today we decided to walk to Benniguinea some 1200ft above Clatteringshaws Loch. The walk was on a good track almost all the way but was a steady steep climb most of the way. When we reached the top the views were stunning in spite of the cloudy weather. The wind was very strong and cold so we didn't stay long!
We descended on a different narrower track and found a sheltered spot for lunch on the way down. Oscar was off his lead most of the way and behaved well again. He definitely has an explorers instinct! Near the bottom on the way down there were sheep on the track which made him growl a little. I think he wanted to round them up!
We then headed back to Newton Stewart for shopping, stopping to watch the wild goats and also to grab a couple of easy caches. By this time the rain was falling quite steadily so we made our way back to the cottage via Port William with two very tired dogs!
